European Climate Pact: involving people in the just transition
Information
With the European Green Deal, the Commission is taking action to fight climate change and make the European economy sustainable, cleaner, safer and healthier. This session will present the European Climate Pact as an element of that strategy and a powerful tool of societal mobilisation which is bringing together people, industry, civil society and public authorities at all levels. The Pact, as an open and inclusive initiative, provides a space for people to connect and collectively develop and implement climate solutions by sharing ideas and best practices.
The session will focus on how the Pact’s approach can benefit the Just Transition Mechanism by involving people, cities and companies in a futureproof development of fossil-fuel dependent and carbon-intensive regions or industries. It will also explain how to become a Climate Pact Ambassador, take climate-friendly action as an individual or as an organisation and make a pledge: big or small, because together we can succeed. Let’s spread the awareness and action!
